Where the Logo Came From

The logo of this site was made by my girlfriend. It's based on the Poro from League of Legends — that round, fluffy little white thing.

A Video Call

It actually happened pretty simply.

One time on a video call, I asked her offhand:

Do you know pixel art?

She said:

Yes, and I'm actually really good at it.

She's an art student, so drawing is her thing. So I asked: could you draw me a pixel-art Poro to use as the logo for this blog?

And she actually did it.

How I Feel About It

I stared at that logo for a long time.

Pixel art looks simple, but every single square has to be placed by hand — one square off and the whole feel is wrong. The Poro she drew has it all: the proportions, the colors, the expression. She even used my favorite color, purple. You can tell at a glance that she put her heart into it.

For this blog I write the code myself (with AI), and obsess over the experience myself. I even built a comment feature, and it turned out I'm the only one commenting on it 😂. The one thing I didn't make is this logo — it was a gift from my girlfriend. So it means a little more to me. It's not just an icon; it's something someone was willing to spend their time making for me.
